KL- Ch. 3

Kasai walked into class. Another day, like usual, until she remembered the note and Tory. He stared at her again all through class. She could feel it. After class, she ran to her usual spot and waited for Flare, because she was in a different class, but she never showed. Kasai remembered she would be at the doctors today, but that would mean being a loner at lunch.
            She sighed, and started towards the cafeteria. Suddenly, two paws slammed into her side, and she tumbled over on the asphalt. Squinting up, she saw Butch, the biggest, baddest dog around, and always made fun of Kasai. Coughing she sat up on her front paws. "So," he said, "Where's your friend?" Kasai growled. She had it, and jumped at him. He easily hit her away with one huge paw. She tumbled again, landing on her side, coughing and gasping for air. She felt warm blood seep through her fur in her cheek.
            She began to cry, but couldn't because she needed to breathe and kept coughing in the middle anyway. Butch growled, "C'mon guys, she just a big baby." And he walked away. Kasai sobbed. She didn't want to move. A shadow moved over her, and it felt warm. "Oh my gosh, Kasai, are you okay?!" The strangers voice was deep, and she turned up to find her gray nose meeting with another black one, and began to blush when she saw those beautiful orange eyes.
            Tory didn't turn away when they met. He stared at her. "Are…" he began, "are you okay?" Kasai thought No, I am absolutely not okay. I just got beat up, I'm crying...and I think I'm in love... She leaned forward and kissed him. He didn't pull away. He was warm and Kasai allowed the warmth to spread throughout her body. She wanted to stay like this. But he pulled away concerned about her cheek. "Here," he pulled her up and supported her shoulder. Kasai was glad because once she stood up, the world shifted off balance and she began to topple.
            "Tory?" she asked him in the nurses office.
            "Yes?"
            "I...I love you,"
            "I love you too," and darkness was all Kasai could see.
